“More Hairspray, Please” – A Glamour Shots Spoof
This photo session is a tongue-in-cheek homage to the gloriously excessive aesthetic of 1980s Glamour Shots. With feathered hair, frosted lipstick, soft-focus lenses, and enough shiny fabric to blind a small town, the series explores the surreal and theatrical self-mythologizing that defined an era of personal photography.
By exaggerating the visual tropes of Glamour Shots, I aimed to poke fun at our obsession with transformation while celebrating the joy and absurdity of self-invention. These images are not just a parody; they’re a glitter-soaked love letter to an awkward but sincere attempt at glamour, confidence, and aspiration.
In embracing the camp and kitsch, the project invites viewers to reflect on the lengths we go to "capture our best selves"—and how sometimes, that version of ourselves is hilariously over-the-top, unapologetically fake, and totally fabulous.
This spoof is more than just nostalgia—it's a rebellion in rhinestones. It's about reclaiming the ridiculous, finding beauty in the bizarre, and celebrating the performative nature of identity, one teased bang at a time.
